A Jumping Off Point

I suppose every good plan has a jumping off point and if I were to pinpoint ours it would start here: this image I found ten years ago on a blog called Milk & Cotton.

After some digging I found the original post in Traditional Home and emulated several concepts in our home plans with Andy of Sucasa Designs. Though our interpretation of this particular space is very different I hope it captures the airy, beautiful feel this space has; a dining room lacking fuss and formality but complete with character and charm.

Gorgeous kitchen design

And so this image became our very first “want” for our home: an open, bright, oversized nook to serve as our dining room, ten plus years in the making.

I’ve linked the rest of the home tour here if you’re curious. Can you guess which other elements from this home we’ve translated into ours?
